At the Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center, we are committed to growing, developing, and continuously supporting our community. Our dedication to these goals has earned us several recognitions over the years, and we aim to achieve even more in the future as our organization continues to evolve.



Social Assistance Recognition

In 2019, when we were known as Upper Susitna Seniors, Inc., we were honored as the best social assistance program. This recognition was a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing essential services and support to our community members, particularly our seniors. Our programs and initiatives have always aimed to enhance the quality of life for our residents, and being recognized for these efforts was a significant milestone.


Bert Hall Award

In 2016, Herman Thompson, one of our most dedicated community members, received the prestigious Bert Hall Award. This award was given in recognition of his monumental contributions to community service, particularly in promoting a healthier Mat-Su. Herman's tireless efforts and dedication to improving the well-being of our community have set a high standard for all of us at the Upper Susitna Community & Senior Center.


Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, we are more motivated than ever to continue our work and earn even more recognitions. Our goals are clear:


  • Expand Our Programs: We plan to introduce new programs and services that address the evolving needs of our community. This includes more health and wellness initiatives, educational workshops, and social activities.

  • Strengthen Community Engagement: Building stronger connections within our community is essential. We aim to increase volunteer opportunities, foster partnerships with local organizations, and create more events that bring people together.

  • Enhance Our Facilities: To better serve our community, we are committed to continuously improving our facilities. This includes upgrading existing spaces and possibly expanding our center to accommodate more members and activities.

  • Provide Exceptional Support: We will continue to offer top-notch support and assistance to our seniors, ensuring they have access to the resources and care they need to lead fulfilling lives.
