Meals on Wheels

The Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center (USSI) is dedicated to serving our senior community through our Meals on Wheels program. Thanks to generous donations from the Susitna Community Council, the Talkeetna Community Council, the Upper Susitna Food Pantry, VFW Post 3836, and individual supporters, we are proud to provide nutritious meals to deserving seniors in our area.

​If you or someone you know could benefit from our Meals on Wheels program, we encourage you to reach out! To sign up for meal delivery or to inquire about our services, please call our office at 907-733-6200. We look forward to serving you!

We are grateful to the following local restaurants for their support in providing meals for our program:

  • Cubby's Deli

  • Flying Squirrel

These partnerships allow us to offer a diverse menu, ensuring our seniors receive meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable.

Participating Restaurants

We currently offer three meal deliveries per week, ensuring that seniors have access to healthy and delicious food. The Tuesday meal service is specifically provided to the Talkeetna area by our Community & Senior Center, while meals on the other days are supplied by local businesses.

Meal Delivery

  • Member Price: $11

  • Non-Member Price: $13

  • Take-Out Containers: A small fee of 25 cents per container.

Pricing

Can’t join us in person? No problem! You can order your meal to-go. Just call us by 11:30 AM to place your order and pick it up at 12:30 PM or later. We look forward to seeing you at our Tuesday Lunches, where great food and fellowship await!

Tuesday Lunches

At the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center, our Tuesday Lunches are a cherished weekly event where friends and community members come together to enjoy a warm meal in good company.

​

  • 11:30 AM: Start your lunch experience with our self-serve soup of the day and a fresh salad bar, featuring a variety of toppings and dressings.

  • 12:00 PM: We begin with the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation, followed by the main entrée served to you. Don’t forget to participate in our exciting 50/50 raffle for a chance to win!

  • 12:30 PM: Indulge in a delicious dessert to round off your meal.
